Laura is the Chief People Officer for Modern based near Portland, Oregon. She ensures Modern is an exceptional place to work for the exceptional people that serve Modern’s clients and is an operational leader supporting the growth of the business.
Laura has 30 years of experience in human resources, organization consulting, business operations and global operator roles, growing and leading teams and the HR function in both the private and public context. For the past 13 years, Laura led the HR/people and workplace functions in a range of private (private-equity and venture-capital backed) SaaS/technology businesses undergoing rapid growth and transformation. Prior to that period, Laura led global HR and organizational consulting teams and major enterprise transformation and capability-building initiatives for organizations such as Intel, Nike, and Mentor Graphics.
Laura holds a BA in Psychology and a Minor in Feminist Studies from Stanford University and an MBA and Master of Public Policy degree from the University of Michigan. An avid traveler, she has been around the world three times and lived for several years in the UK. She is a published author on the topic of organizational design and a certified executive coach. She currently serves as a Board Member for POIC+RAHS, an education, workforce development and economic empowerment organization in Portland Oregon and acts as a Board Advisor to several start-ups.
