Jena McGregor

Editorial Director and VP Content Strategy

Modern has created one of the most high-level communities of executive talent, providing unique opportunities for leaders to find support, share insights and grow themselves. I’m thrilled to help build this network, and in the process, hope to make the practice of how we work—how so many people spend so much of their time—work better.

Jena McGregor is a veteran journalist widely recognized for her coverage of the future of work, leadership strategy and workplace trends after serving as an editor, writer and reporter at national media outlets for more than 20 years. Before joining Modern, she was a senior editor at Forbes, where she launched, curated and hosted the publication’s annual Future of Work Summit and created its Future of Work 50 list and related weekly newsletter. As Editorial Director, McGregor will lead Modern’s content initiatives, building insights from Modern’s partners and network of leaders as well as supporting programming for its executive roundtables and events.

Prior to Forbes, Jena was a longtime writer at the Washington Post, where she led the newspaper’s coverage of workplace and business leadership issues and wrote frequently about the intersection of business and Washington. She launched her career through progressive editorial roles at Dow Jones, Fast Company magazine and BusinessWeek. Her writing has been recognized by the National Association of Black Journalists, the National Press Club and the Press Club of Atlantic City (National Headliner Award), and she has served as a moderator on workplace issues at high-profile and industry events such as SXSW, the Milken Institute’s Global Conference, Jobs For the Future’s Horizons and HRPA.

She earned her undergraduate degree from The University of Georgia.
